New Single: Summer's Over

Summer's Over - No Text.jpg

My brand new single, Summer’s Over, is out NOW on all streaming platforms and on my website.

Pretentious context: This is a song I started a year ago but didn’t get to the lyrics for until this summer and I wrote them for this moment. A little different from what you’re used to from me, but I needed to write something about this unspeakably cruel time of our lives in a couple short verses, alongside a simple piano and some found sound. There may not be a right way to adequately sum that up or do justice to what we've all been through, but I hope that it will connect with people.

Thank you guys for listening and for your support. I’ve got more music on the way (starting Sunday with the re-release of my first song, Mexican Standoff, for its tenth anniversary - a couple of GREAT new remixes along with it) and I am working on a new EP for next year. I hope that when it comes out I’ll be able to play a real live show for you guys in person but in the meantime I’ll be live streaming a set TONIGHT on Twitch where I’ll do this song for the first time, as well as something else you probably haven’t heard.

Finally: shoutout to Reybee PR for welcoming me and Polychromatic Records aboard - press release from them to follow.

Time Enough: New split EP with Neo Obisidan out NOW!

Time Enough V2.jpg

A few weeks ago my good friend and collaborator Alex sent me a track he’d put together the night before and I was instantly hooked on it. I’d wanted to write something like this for a while, but particularly during this quarantine period. With Alex having lit a fire under my butt, I asked him if he’d be up for doing another one and me doing two in the same vein and making a split EP out of it - this would function as both a way of me putting out some new music as well as him properly putting some of his incredible music out in the world, so win-win.

So: surprise, dummies, we did that.

Time Enough is our four-track split EP. Two songs from me and two songs from Alex in his first release as Neo Obsidian. This EP is entirely instrumental; the songs are mostly ambient, atmospheric, dreamy, ethereal, a little self-indulgent, and hopefully hopeful. We hope that you’ll listen to it either when you’re working from home, cleaning up or, more ideally, when you have 25 minutes (yes, that’s long for four songs) to zone out and just take a breather from “all of this stuff going on.” We didn’t want this record to be defined by this awful, scary time in everyone’s lives, but we also hope we’ve made something that might get you through it a little more easily.

The EP will be available on all streaming platforms either right now or very shortly but - BIG BUT! - if you’d like to download it to keep, you can donate and 100% of proceeds will be going to restaurant relief in Louisiana and North Carolina (more on the details of that later; we’ll post receipts.)

We had a really good time making this and we hope you like it. Keep your heads up and stay safe.
